PLANS to build a new sports hall and a bridge at Great Sankey High School have been approved.
The proposals for the site, on Barrow Hall Lane, were approved by the development management committee at the Town Hall on Wednesday.
The sports hall will provide 'a modern four-court' playing area with changing rooms and storage space to accommodate up to 60 people, in line with Sport England guidance.
And the bridge that is going to be built will cross a 'relatively narrow part' of a stream at the site.
It will 'tie directly into' an existing access route to the current humanities block – and to the southern side a new graded pathway will be provided, from the bridge, down to the playground.
The development could result in the loss of up to nine trees but planning documents say 'replacements are proposed'.
