WE recently parked in the multistorey car park to go into Golden Square Shopping Centre.
No sooner had we parked and the alarm sounded announcing that we must leave the building immediately and not to use the lifts.
We quickly got back to our vehicle and many people started doing the same.
Can you imagine my utter disbelief when we got to the barriers and they were all closed.
A huge queue was forming as people were still expected to not only scan their ticket to get out but also to have paid for parking.
As far as I know this was all a false alarm – God forbid had there really been a bomb or a fire the carnage that could have been caused by such an oversight as this.
Surely the first safety measure would be when alarms sound barriers come up in order to assist with prompt and safe evacuation.
Shame on you Golden Square for putting money before safety.
