FIREFIGHTERS tackled a house fire on Wilderspool Causeway this afternoon, Thursday.
Crews were called to a property near to Fletcher Street at around 2.30pm.
The road was partially blocked by four fire engines, but no closures were put in place.
Cheshire Police also attended the scene to assist with traffic.
Around a dozen residents were evacuated from the row of houses, with smoke seen billowing from an upstairs flat.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have now confirmed that the blaze started in the first floor flat, which was 'well alight' when crews arrived at the scene.
The ground floor flat was also affected, but all occupants were accounted for.
A woman was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics, with the fire extinguished within an hour.
