A TEACHING assistant has been overwhelmed by the generosity of pupils at her school and community after raising £500 for the St Rocco's Colour Run.

Samantha Parker, 30, participated in the annual fun run last year with her daughter and was surprised to see her face on the poster for this year's advert.

Samantha wanted to try make even more of a difference for the hospice this year after seeing the poster and so set herself the challenge of raising £250.

Within two weeks of starting fundraising she had raised half the amount through Thelwall Community Infant School with donations coming from many pupils and their families.

She also received many donations from employees at Zachary Daniels Recruitment with managing director Zac Clements offering to double the amount raised.

During the end of school term a cake and bake sale was held after school by local residents at school to help achieve my target of £250.

With special thanks too Diane Taylor and Clare Freaney who spent much of their time to make many delicious cakes to raise the funds.

Zac Clements has now doubled the amount making a total of £500 raised for the hospice.

Samantha said: "I am truly honoured and overwhelmed with the kindness and support from my community, I certainly could not have achieved this without you all."
