I WAS interested to read the piece about the lost pubs in Warrington (Warrington Guardian, August 2).
There has been lots of conjecture about pubs being closed, pubs being knocked down and a loss of heritage.
Yet we don’t seem to learn.
I drove past the old Packet House on the bottom of Bridge Street.
What a state.
There are holes in the roof, it looks like heavy rain, a strong gust of wind or worst still some snow would bring the whole thing down.
This used to be one of the best buildings in town but it will only go one way.
I am sure there will be a mysterious fire or a forced demolition any time.
We have to protect what we have for the future or where are we as a society and a town?
We will be left with new car parks and drive-through takeaways.
