A SERIAL offender has been jailed for exposing himself to a female police officer.

Conor Bassnet, from Birchwood, called the police to his home during an argument with his girlfriend before flashing the policewoman.

On Wednesday, August 1, he was jailed for nine weeks at Warrington Magistrates Court.

The 22-year-old asked for officers to attend his then him on Woodvale Close in Padgate at around 1pm on Wednesday, March 7.

When a female officer entered the upstairs flat, Bassnet - who was wearing only a pair of boxer shorts - charged towards her and shouted 'get out of my house'.

He clenched his fists before laughing, pulling his underpants down and exposing his genitals.

Bassnet, now of Redshank Lane, added: "You have to get out now because I've got my d*** out."

After covering himself up again, Bassnet placed his hands onto the officer's shoulder and chest and tried to 'shove' her with his shoulder when he was arrested.

He began arguing with his girlfriend again while getting clothed and 'lunged' for a second police officer who had attended to assist his colleague, attempting to make contact with his face.

The court heard that the defendant - who has 14 previous convictions for 21 offences - had 'not intended to upset, shock or humiliate the female officer in any way'.

Bassnet - who appeared in court via video link to HMP Liverpool - admitted exposure, two counts of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest during an early court hearing in June.

He was also fined £150 and ordered to pay compensation of £100 to the police officer plus a victim surcharge of £115.

Sentencing, magistrate panel chairman Lynn Colter-Howard said: "Having looked at your record, we are appalled at the amount of trouble you have got yourself into considering your age.

"Assaults on police officers are taken very seriously and we will not tolerate them."
