A GROUP of determined parents from Stockton Heath Primary School have completed The National Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for a playground makeover.

The team of 12 waved an emotional farewell to the school on West Avenue on Friday, July 6 as they embarked on a 330-mile trip to their overnight stop in Fort William, Scotland.

The following day, the group made the short journey to Ben Nevis to begin their 24 hour challenge.

The group successfully walked Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike in England, and Mount Snowdon in Wales, finishing the challenge on July 8 – walking 24 miles, covering 462 miles by minibus and tackling 10,052 of ascents in the process.

"We have now raised more than £10,500 for the school and we are extremely thankful to all of our supporters. Its been an epic challenge, and one we will never forget."
