A NEW rose queen was formally crowned at the annual Stretton Walking Day on Saturday.

The day started with a special service at St Matthew's Church on Stretton Road, before the walk of witness saw a parade of dignitaries, school children and families make their way through the village.

Pupil Milly Coxon was crowned this year's rose queen, along with attendants Jessica Morrison and Lily Roberts.

Retiring rose queen Lois Hayes-Harrop was also in attendance.

Mayor of Warrington Karen Mundry opened the annual fair at St Matthew's CE Primary School, where refreshments and entertainment were on offer throughout the afternoon.
