POLICE have shut down a house in Orford – just weeks after class A drugs were uncovered at the home following a police raid.

The closure order was granted at Warrington Magistrates' Court yesterday, Thursday, after a notice was served at the terraced house on 116 Hume Street on July 17 by the police.

After hearing evidence from the force, the magistrates ruled to lock up the property for three months due to ‘persistent disorder'.

This prohibits anyone from entering the house during this time period and the windows and doors of the property have been boarded up for at least three months.

It has been confirmed that the police had received repeated reports by members of the public about ongoing issues at the home.

While the property is owned by a housing association, a 37-year-old woman, who had been residing there, will now need to find alternative living arrangements.

The closure order was agreed on the grounds that the person living at the property had been engaging in anti-social behaviour at the premises and the use of the premises has been associated with significant and persistent disorder as well as causing a serious nuisance to members of the public.

Police sought an order just five weeks after a search warrant was executed at the home under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A number of class A drugs were seized following a search by officers.

Investigations are ongoing into the drugs probe.
