THESE two friends were itching to get their paws on a van that would make heads turn when they arrived at their year six leavers prom – and they didn't disappoint.

Locking Stumps Primary pupils Lincoln Antell and Luca Chriscoli rolled up in a replica of the famous Mutt Cutts van from the cult classic movie Dumb and Dumber – a comedy about two loveable fools.

The two inseparable 11 year olds, who met in reception at the school on Glover Road, left their teachers and fellow pupils in hysterics when they made an unforgettable entrance to the farewell dance.

Lincoln's mum Gemma, from Fearnhead, said they wanted to come up with an idea that was as barking mad as her son and his friend, who never stop laughing when they are together.

She said: "It has been in the making for around a year.

"If you know the boys then you will be aware that they are two peas in a pod and their nicknames are Dumb and Dumber.

"They are not always in trouble but they are a pair of class clowns and when they get together it's twice as crazy."

To live up to their nicknames, the parents agreed to splash out on the van from the 1994 film, which was complete with a tail, shaggy ears, nose and fake fur.

Gemma added: "Everyone was shocked as the boys were able to keep it a secret – no-one suspected a thing.

"The teachers and pupils were in hysterics.

"It all started out as a joke at first. It will be something funny for them to look back on."

Lincoln and Luca are now preparing to start Culcheth High School in September.

But – after setting the bar high – the pressure is on to make sure their year 11 prom entrance lives up to expectations.

"I have no idea how we will top this," said Gemma.

"We have five years to plan."
