THREE friends made a spectacular entrance to their primary school leavers’ party when they arrived at the venue in a helicopter.

Oakwood Avenue Community Primary School pupils Alfie Breary, Billy Blinston and Owen Catelani were chauffeured to the celebration at the Grange Sports and Social Club in Latchford from Manchester City Airport via the skies.

The 11-year-olds were swamped by their classmate from the Padgate school when they landed at the party on the evening of Friday, July 13.

Warrington Guardian:

Kate Breary, Alfie’s mum, said: “My best friend has a contact who has a helicopter at Barton, and it came out of a joke where we said ‘why don’t we send them to their leavers’ part in a helicopter.

“They must just like a challenge because they made it happen.

“We had to get permission from the Grange in order to land the helicopter there first.

“It was actually quite touch and go whether they’d be able to fly with all the rain we had on Friday and we had to wait for clearing, but luckily it did go ahead in the end.”

For one of the year six pupils, it was the first time they had flown in any vehicle - let alone a helicopter.

Kate added: “Nobody had seen anything like this before - it was a little bit over the top for a leavers’ party.

“One of the boys had never even been on a plane before.

“Alfie just wishes it was last week all over again so he could look forward to flying in the helicopter again.

“They thought it was the best thing ever, and the party was great as well.

“It was so cute when all of their schoolmates who were waiting came running over to meet them when the helicopter landed - it was heartwarming to see as they could’ve easily been jealous, but the way they all ran over was lovely.”
