A DOCTOR has been struck off after it was found that he had lied about his qualifications in a job application.

Dr Kashif Samin, a former GP at Four Seasons Medical Centre in Orford, has been erased from the General Medical Council register after it was found that he had made up medical societies he stated he was a part of and fabricated claims that he had studied at top universities.

A week-long Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing earlier this month was told that Dr Samin stated he had obtained a masters' degree in emergency medicine from Manchester Metropolitan University in an application for a role at Glan Clwyd Hospital, when he had actually dropped out of the course as he was going through a divorce.

In the same job application, Dr Samin claimed he had had an article published in the Journal of Gastroenterology - but no evidence of this existed.

Dr Samin, who was not present or represented at the hearing, had also posted a CV online which claimed he had more than 46 years' experience as a doctor, despite him being aged only 41.

An advert for Dr Samin's company Derma Aesthetics Ltd stated that he was a fellow of the American Association of Aesthetic Surgeons, an organisation that does not exist.

His Facebook profile stated he had studied aesthetics at the State University of New York when he had only visited the library, and that he had been a student at the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine - which Dr Samin did not attend and did not believe existed.

Dr Samin was suspended from practising for four months last year after he was found to have forged his wife's signature in order to sell their marital home.

It was found that he had told this hearing that he was no longer working, when he was employed at Four Season Medical Centre.

MPTS panel chairman Damian Cooper said: "In these circumstances, the tribunal determines that the only appropriate sanction in this case is erasure.

"The tribunal determines that Dr Samin has been persistently dishonest and has demonstrated no insight into the seriousness of his actions and their consequences."

Dr Anita Malkhandi, senior partner at the Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub-based surgery, added: “Dr Samin was employed at Four Seasons for a short time.

“Prior to employment, all necessary checks were completed and no issues were raised.

“Following on from a MPTS ruling in July 2017, Dr Samin was suspended from his work as a GP at Four Seasons Medical Centre.

“As soon as the practice was made aware of the outcome in 2017, we took immediate appropriate action.

“At no time was patient safety compromised.

“Dr Samin is no longer employed by Four Seasons Medical Centre.”
