KNUTSFORD Mayor Peter Coan returned to his school to open the summer fair at Manor Park School and Nursery.

Cllr Coan said: “It was a pleasure and an honour to open the summer fair, especially as I used to go to the school many years ago.

“It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves and more importantly raising money for the School Association.”

The school enjoyed a World Cup-themed fair, with pupils embracing football fever by taking part in the finals of a school-wide tournament.

They also contributed to a themed Bake Off, which was judged by Cllr Coan and head teacher Simon Cotterill.

Visitors enjoyed a memorable day in the sunshine, with a barbecue, visits from local police officers, ambulance and fire brigade, and Knutsford Scouts offered archery demonstrations.

“It was wonderful to see so many people coming together at our school to celebrate the value of community and friendship,” said Mr Cotterill.

“We even held two World Cup finals of our own - one of which was won on penalties.

“Our children and families have excelled themselves again and Manor Park continues to grow from strength to strength. Thank you to everyone who supported our summer fair.”

Year 2 pupil Logan Egerton, a Manchester City fan, won the raffle grand prize of being a mascot for Manchester City.
