CHESHIRE Police are urging parents to ensure their children stay safe online as the school holidays approach.
As youngsters spend more time using the internet during the school holidays, officers have offered some top tips for parents to help protect their children while using the web.
Police said parents should talk regularly with their children about their lives online, including raising important issues such as responsible behaviour, bullying and adult content.
Parents are advised to use parental controls, privacy features and safety options, as well as making sure they are aware of age limits on social networking sites.
They are also urged to be aware of any changes in their child's behaviour or mood, as it may be a sign that they are being bullied, harassed or groomed.
