THIS thoughtful gesture will certainly melt your heart this morning.

Mum-of-two Kerry Harper, from Orford, shared her heartfelt thanks on social media yesterday, Wednesday, after an ice cream van went the extra mile to deliver free ice cream to patients, staff and visitors at St Rocco’s Hospice on Lockton Lane.

The 41-year-old's husband Rob contacted Matt's Ices after his mum started craving a whippy ice cream.

Kerry said: "She has been in St Rocco's for a week and a day and she has been eating ice cream out of a tub but she had a craving for a whippy ice cream.

"My husband contacted Matt's Ices and asked if he would deliver.

"He said 'yes' and that everyone was welcome to a free ice cream.

"It has been a difficult time and it's amazing to know that there are lovely people out there like Matt.

"They could choose any ice cream they wanted.

"It gave us all a bit of normality as families and their children were going outside for an ice cream.

"Rob's mum really enjoyed it."

Posting on Facebook last night, Kerry said: "My husband's mum is in St Rocco’s Hospice and really fancied a whippy ice cream.

"My husband contacted Matt to ask if he would deliver to the hospice.

"Not only did Matt send one of his vans, he gave every patient, staff and visitor an ice cream of their choice for free.

"What a wonderful thing you did Matt! You put smiles on a lot of people’s faces tonight."
