Leigh Miners Rangers A 12 Latchford Albion 20
LATCHFORD Albion consolidated third place in North West Men’s League Division One with a hard-fought win on Saturday.
Adam Wadsworth scored twice in between efforts from Phil Woollacott and Adam Wood, with Owen Nugent adding two conversions.
Lee Smith’s side got off to the perfect start when Woollacott raced away from dummy-half to score, but Miners responded with two unconverted efforts to ensure they led 8-4 at the break.
However, Albion coped better with the tricky conditions caused by a torrential downpour after the break, with Wadsworth to the fore.
He scored two tries in the corner to give the visitors a comfortable lead and, despite Miners pulling a try back, it proved decisive as Wood held off two defenders to cross for the game-clinching try.
Albion host Pilkington Recs A on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
