HUNDREDS of people swarmed to Lymm High School for the summer fair to help raise funds for a new 3G sports pitch.

Students, staff and parents attended the fair with all proceeds going towards the schools ‘Pitch In!’ campaign - a fundraising initiative with a £100,000 target to bid for a new 3G sports pitch and changing room facilities.

Head teacher Gwyn Williams, said: "The summer fair was, as always, a great success.

"Bringing the diverse school community together is always a wonderful experience. The summer fair is always a delightful afternoon with plenty for families to see and do while raising vital funds to improve the learning opportunities for our students and the town."

The school grounds were transformed on Saturday, June 9 thanks to plenty of enthusiasm, gazebos and bunting.

The British weather blessed the day with dry, cloudy but warm weather, allowing organisers and visitors to relax and enjoy themselves and their ice creams.

More than 30 stalls offered entertainment, goods and services, including homemade food, arts and crafts, fundraising activities, tombolas and much more.

There were also inflatables, bouncy castles, sumo wrestling, traditional games and fairground rides.

The highlight of the event for many was the chance to witness the school’s first dog show judged by Manchester and Cheshire dogs home.

The sunny day saw lots of visiting dogs and their human families, with prizes handed out for categories dependent on size of breed and even a ‘Dog’s got Talent’ competition.

After a fantastic showcase of the community’s four-legged friends, dog Masie, owned by Edda Potts, was crowned ‘best in show’.

Business manager, Tina McGuffie, said: "t's the biggest social event in the school calendar – not only is it great fun but it's also one of our main fundraisers too.

"All the hours of planning are worth it when you see the students and the community having such an exciting time in the name of the school.

“It’s been a huge feat of organisation for everyone involved in the school community and we are so proud of how students, staff and businesses have pulled together and who do such an excellent job every year.”

The school would like to say an extra special thank you to everyone who visited on the day and to the dozens of businesses that donated prizes, especially to PTA who helped from beginning to end.
