SALES for businesses based at Sci-Tech Daresbury grew by a third during the past year.

A survey of 97 companies based at the science and technology campus has shown that the site generated sales of more than £115m in 2017.

And 25 of those surveyed recorded sales of more than £1m - with four businesses topping £5m.

An additional 119 full-time jobs were created during the year, with £36m invested in companies.

The survey also showed that exports accounted for 42 per cent of total sales.

Sci-Tech Daresbury chairman John Downes said: “The excellent growth reported in the latest campus survey is a reflection of the wealth of financial and collaborative benefits on offer to tenants at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

“We are committed to building on our success year on year, and it is that thread that runs through everything we do.

“Our commitment to expand through the Techspace development and the planned Project Violet scheme ensures that we are ideally placed to deliver further significant growth for Sci-Tech Daresbury and its companies.

“This is about creating the right conditions for science and innovation-based small to medium enterprises to achieve their growth ambitions.”

Warehouse systems integrator Conveyor Networks moved to Sci-Tech Daresbury in 2016 and has since recorded an increase in turnover of more than 30 per cent.

Managing director David Carroll said: “The collaborative nature of Sci-Tech Daresbury and rapid connection to business expertise, funding and research and development support are opening doors to other sectors. “It’s provided us with faster access to new opportunities and we are able to plan for sustainable growth.”
