CHESHIRE Dogs' Home is looking for a forever home for a special resident who perfectly illustrates the problem of older dogs in shelters.
Susie, a seven-year-old cross-breed, came to Cheshire Dogs' Home in Grappenhall after the death of her elderly owner.
Staff at the home, on Knutsford Road, describe Susie as a 'lovely girl with a sweet nature who just needs someone she can form a close bond with'.
Anna Stansfield, home manager, said: "Susie's story is sadly typical of many dogs who come to us after elderly owners pass away.
"They've often spent years of love and comfort with one owner and are really accustomed to a close bond with a human, and they badly need to find this kind of bond again with a new owner.
"Older dogs can make wonderful companions, and we would urge people to consider 'golden oldies' like Susie when they're looking to adopt a dog."
Any potential owners would need to give Susie a lot of love and affection, and make sure she is the only dog in the house.
Anyone interested in adopting Susie should call the home on 0844 504 1212.
