POLICE are hunting a motorist who drove off after being involved in a crash that closed Manchester Road last night.
The road was closed in both directions after the accident in Rixton at around 6pm yesterday, Tuesday.
Officers attending the scene found that a tyre from a trailer had come loose from the vehicle before striking a Ford transit van and a black Mercedes travelling in the opposite direction.
No injuries were reported in the incident, but a silver Saab car that was towing the trailer failed to stop at the scene.
Cheshire Police are now conducting enquiries in an attempt to trace the driver.
