LIVEWIRE swim instructors will be talking to young swimmers about staying safe near water when they take part in Child Safety Week.

The awareness week runs from Monday, June 4 until Sunday, June 10 and is headed by Child Accident Prevention Trust to raise awareness of the risks of child accidents and how they can be prevented.

LiveWire says it is proud to play its part in trying to reduce this figure and will be discussing water safety tips during all swimming lessons throughout the week.

It’s almost summer, which for many people means it’s time for water - outside pools, summer holidays and trips to the beach.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in children, in the UK.

LiveWire will be making sure that everyone knows how to have fun and stay safe near water.

LiveWire’s managing director, Emma Hutchinson, said: “It is so important to remind people to stay safe near water, especially at this high-risk time of year.

“We’re very proud to have helped over 4000 people to swim as part of our Learn to Swim Scheme in 2017, providing potentially lifesaving skills - helping children to learn the skills they need to stay safe and enjoy the water.”
