A COUPLE from Orford shared their big day with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday as they tied the knot after a five-year engagement.

Chris and Lindsay Curtis were joined by family, friends and their two children Cole, five, and Elliot, three, at the Hallmark Hotel in Grappenhall.

The pair, who have been together for nine years, exchanged vows at 2pm – two hours after the now Duke and Duchess and Sussex became husband and wife at St George's Chapel, in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Warrington Guardian:

Thirty-year-old electrician Chris proposed to Lindsay five years ago, in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disney Orlando, with the pair making wedding plans last year.

Speaking before their wedding on Saturday, 25-year-old Lindsay, a beautician at Harmony Beauty Therapy on Knutsford Road, said: "We both understand what marriage means. We believe you should be married once and that is it until death."

THE joy and happiness of the royal wedding was shared on Saturday by former United Utilities workers, Richard Berry and Kate Cleary.

The happy couple from Widnes got married an hour after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The pair met five years ago and exchanged their vows under a sun-kissed pergola in the walled garden of Runcorn's 900-year-old Norton Priory.

"We had the most perfect day," said 28-year-old Richard, of Bunhills. "It was great to celebrate with our friends and family, even the weather was great."

Warrington Guardian:

The couple's two-and-a-half year old son Lucas was page boy, following in the footsteps of Prince George.

Richard and Kate invited 50 relatives and friends to witness their wedding - unlike the royal wedding which was watched by two billion people worldwide.

The couple, who work at the Ombudsman Services in Warrington, held their reception at the Holiday Inn and danced into the night with 130 guests.
