VOLUNTEERS from St John Ambulance have raised more than £800 for the charity by cycling from Stockport to Warrington.

Alison Williams, Louise Rush, Sophie Dey and Annette Allen, all from the charity based in Hoyle Street, took on the ride on Sunday, May 6 to raise money for radios that are used by first aiders at events across the county.

Alison Williams, unit manager at Warrington, said: "Communication is a vital part of our operation when we are out on duty and we decided this was a great way to raise the money to buy new ones.

"The sponsorship we have received is fantastic, we have raised more than £800 which is great."

The four cyclists headed along the A6 from Stockport where they picked up the Trans Pennine Trail and fifth St John Ambulance volunteer, Hannah Brown.

The women completed their journey in five hours.
