MEMBERS of staff from a Fearnhead IT company walked 34 miles to raise thousands of pounds for a children’s charity.

A team of 28 walkers – including 24 employees of Cinnamon Park-based Datel Group – braved the sandstone trail challenge to raise £7,000 for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

The two-day walk from Frodsham to Whitchurch was estimated at around 85,000 steps for each participant, with the group braving chilly temperatures and muddy conditions.

Based near High Legh, the Children's Adventure Farm Trust runs activities for terminally-ill, disabled and disadvantaged children.

Trek leader Jure Modic said: “This was a fabulous event and I’m so proud of our team for completing this extremely challenging trail.

“Everyone faced their own personal difficulties along the way – including disintegrating footwear and the usual array of blisters and sore feet.

“It was great to see the team pulling together and support each other – we even managed to fashion a replacement shoe between us.

“We’re blessed to have some beautiful countryside on our doorstep here in Cheshire – this truly is a magnificent part of the world.

“I feel truly honoured to have experienced this trail with such a fantastic group of people and humbled by the effort they all put into both training and fundraising.

“The money raised will have a huge impact on the lives of children from our region who desperately need our held.”
