NO arrests have been made following the suspected arson of the payment booth at Warburton Toll Bridge.
The toll booth at the site, near Lymm, was destroyed following the incident in the early hours last Thursday.
Greater Manchester Police officers attended the scene at around 1.30am, shortly after firefighters.
The cause is not yet known but the force is treating the incident as arson.
This afternoon, Tuesday, a spokeswoman said inquiries are still ongoing – and confirmed no arrests or charges have been made at this point.
However, the firm's immediate focus is on installing a new payment booth, although it has not been able to confirm a specific date for when it will be in place.
The bridge, which costs 12p to cross, or 25p for a day ticket, has been the subject of complaints from motorists over congestion.
