PEACE campaigner Colin Parry is among those who have paid tribute to politician Tessa Jowell following her death.

The father of Tim Parry, who was killed in the Warrington bombing in March 1993, shared a photograph of the ex-cabinet minister, who held positions in the Blair and Brown governments.

Mr Parry said: "Sad to hear that Tessa Jowell has lost her fight against cancer.

"She was a good politician and an even better human being who helped us meet David Cameron at No.10."

Helen Newlove, the wife of Garry Newlove who was brutally murdered outside his home by a gang of youths in Fearnhead, added: "So saddened to hear the news of Baroness Jowell's passing.

"I only saw her three weeks ago smiling in company of her colleagues."

Helen Jones Warrington North MP said: "Very sad to hear of the death of Tessa Jowell, who advocated so bravely for others with cancer during her illness. RIP Tessa."

The politician died at the weekend, aged 70, after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Mrs Jowell had been battling with brain cancer since she was diagnosed last year.

During her final months, she dedicated her time to help fellow sufferers to receive better treatment.
