THE trend towards cheaper imported goods has led to a dispute between a Great Sankey woman and a supplier of baby's buggies.

Mary Wood, from Stockdale Road in Great Sankey, bought a £488 buggy in May for her pregnant daughter.

She says that suppliers Peek-a-boo, of Haydock Street off Lythgoes Lane in the town centre said it would arrive by the third week of July.

But, she claims, that she had to keep phoning and asking about deliveries, being told twice that it would be there, and once that it had arrived, but in the wrong colour.

Mrs Wood said that her daughter had even contacted the suppliers to ask if it had been despatched and added: "It should have been such a pleasant experience to buy a buggy but it's been anything but."

Jane Campbell, owner of the store, said the problems were the result of the demand for cheaper imported goods and difficulties in dealing with Mrs Wood.

She said: "The way this business works isn't easy because everything is imported and we can only relay information we are given and sometimes that information can change. Mrs Wood has been phoned on several occasions.

"We always do our best to try and chase these things up but we are working with suppliers. We do our best but unfortunately that is never good enough for some people. It was delivered before the baby was born."
