THE Salvation Army Day Care invited more than 35 guests to its centre on Academy Way to celebrate St George's Day in style.

Members of the public, carers and clients enjoyed a three course, traditional dinner on Tuesday to mark the occasion, thanks to the centre's new chef.

Margery Hamman and Bert Bray, who are both 96, regularly attend the day care and were crowned King and Queen for the day.

Angela Potter, a senior carer who has worked at the centre for 27 years, said: "The day was a great success with 38 people attending for lunch.

"Margery and Bert thoroughly enjoyed being King and Queen for the day, even enjoying their cups of tea in China cups.

"Our chef Mat put on an amazing carvery, it was lovely for everyone to sit round and take part.

"All in all I have to say I really enjoyed the day along with all the staff, just time now to start planning our next theme day of the Royal Wedding."

The day centre offers care for the elderly from all areas of Warrington through chair-based exercises each morning, various games and activities including wii, cards, dominoes, darts, carpet bowls, crafts.

It provides a welcoming, comfortable environment offering practical and therapeutic support, 10am to 3pm Tuesday till Friday each week.
