LIVEWIRE libraries will be marking Mental Health Awareness Week with a visit from former Super League forward Danny Sculthorpe.

Danny retired as a result of injury and illness and this affected his mood and wellbeing.

He has since become involved in the ‘State of Mind’ charity as an ambassador promoting good mental well-being and sharing his experiences of battling against mental illness.

The former Warrington, Widnes and Castelford forward recently documented his journey in the book ‘Highs, Lows and Hypos: The Danny Sculthorpe Story'.

The event will take place at Orford Library on Monday, May 14 from 7pm until 9pm.

Places need to be booked in advance at any LiveWire library. Tickets, priced £2.50, include refreshments.

All proceeds will go to ‘State of Mind’ charity.

Wendy Molyneux, strategic libraries manager, said: "Although one in eight men will experience a mental health condition, many people find it difficult to talk about. We are delighted Danny has agreed to come along to chat about his personal experience.

"Please come along and support the brilliant ‘State of Mind’ charity."
