LATCHFORD residents came together earlier this month to turn untidy pieces of wasteland into wildflower paradises.

In an effort to bring change to their environment, children and parents from Westy scattered 1.5 million seeds, of 30 varieties on three different locations.

Work was carried out on Bridgewater Avenue, at the crossroads of Whitley and Richmond Avenue and near to KFC on Kingsway South, to create a memorial garden earlier this month.

It is hoped the gardens will be low maintenance and bloom for five months throughout summer supporting pollinating insects, such as butterflies and bees, while bringing beauty to the area.
