THE new Cheshire Cat-branded bus fleet from Warrington's Own Buses, the new name for Network Warrington, are being introduced from today, Monday.

Servicing the south Warrington network, they will provide frequent links, up to every 10 minutes, for passengers travelling to Stockton Heath, Warrington Bank Quay station and the interchange.

From April 8, a number of changes to routes were also introduced, with changes to services 23, 25, 11 and 12 coming into effect.

Ben Wakerley, managing director, said: "We think it is really important to run routes every 10 minutes because if we want to have a truly connected Warrington, we need to be able to connect via public transport frequently.

"The first two buses will be introduced on Monday, and then thereafter they will start appearing.

"We have been doing driver training and familiarisation but from next week they will be out and about on the road."

The new fleet, made up of 13 buses, are industry-approved as environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient, as well as including Wi-Fi, extra leg room, comfy seats and USB charging points.

The Cheshire Cat launch follows improvements the bus company have already made including The Pops to Orford and high frequency hospital services to Bewsey and Dallam.

Ben said the company plans to continue improving the network across the town, in the hope of encouraging people to leave their cars in the garage and try travelling by bus.

He said: "We want to make it as simple as possible for people to use the bus.

"We do think that people don't always understand it and bus companies don't make it as easy as they should do.

"You cannot miss the cat on the side of the buses and the bus stops, bus shelters and information leaflets will also have the cat on, so it is recognisable.

"We have pored over the detail of this for the past six to 12 months and are trying to create something that is inviting for people.

"From the wood flooring, to lining the walls with ultra fabrics, it makes for a more inviting atmosphere."
