TRAIN passengers in Warrington are set to benefit from more rail services.
Virgin Trains will serve Warrington with an extra 36 services per week, as it prepares to launch additional direct services between London and Blackpool next month with Pendolino trains.
Launching on May 21, the new services will improve Warrington’s connections with London and Blackpool six days a week from Monday to Saturday.
The extra weekday services will see Virgin Trains deliver three additional northbound services and three additional southbound services between London and Blackpool, calling at Rugby, Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western and Preston.
The town will benefit from connections to Blackpool and London on Saturdays with six services – three to Blackpool North and three to London – providing more opportunities at the weekend.
The boost in services follows the completion of Network Rail’s work to electrify the line between Blackpool and Preston and lengthen the platforms at Blackpool North station to allow longer Pendolino trains to travel to and from the resort.
