THE finish line is in touching distance for two friends who vowed to run three marathons in two weeks in aid of the River Reeves Foundation.

Gym owner Kim Kelly, 39, and IT consultant Gill Glover, 50, have already completed the Manchester marathon and on Monday the two friends tackled the Boston marathon – but it was no easy feat. The weather report cited ‘car-wash conditions’ and 30 mph winds.

On Sunday, the two friends will pound the streets of the capital for the London marathon in aid of the charity, which was set up by the family of River following his death alongside his Viola Beach bandmates and manager in 2016.

After hearing about the tragedy, the friends pledged to raise £9,000 to help fulfil the foundation’s mission to launch the Futures in Mind initiative to provide a mobile counselling service.

There will also be a charity night at Appleton Village Club in Widnes on April 28.

Tickets, which are £5, are available from Exclusive Gym, the foundation's Facebook page or on the door. There will be live music from Random and Almaz Sounds along with a DJ.
