POULTON Park Golf Club’s landmark new season is underway.

New club captain Steve Everson teed off on Saturday, April 7, to mark the opening of the golf season.

The nine-hole Crab Lane golf club is celebrating its 40th birthday in 2018, having first been founded in 1978.

Steve will be embarking on a 300-mile charity bike ride later this year to celebrate his captaincy.

He said: “I consider it a great honour to be made captain of Poulton Park Golf Club for 2018, especially with this being our 40th anniversary year.

“In line with tradition, it is great that past captains and members have voted and endorsed my nomination for this very special year.

“We have a very busy diary of events planned to celebrate, which are open to both members and non-members – including our St Rocco’s Hospice charity golf weekend, to be held on July 29.

“I am also planning a 300-mile charity cycle ride to coincide with this event from Carnoustie in Scotland – this year’s British Open venue – back to my home club Poulton Park.

“All monies raised will be going to this local Warrington charity, who do fantastic work for people in the area.”
