A NEW community cinema launches this week bringing pop-up screenings of films to Warrington.

Set up by Isobel Harrop and Daniel Percival, out of their shared love of film, the pair hope the community cinema will encourage other film-lovers to support under-seen and high-quality cinema.

Isobel, 22, and Daniel, 23, are also looking for people to join their committee and help plan future screenings and events.

Supported by Cinema For All and the British Film Institute, CineWire is a film club dedicated to bringing a diverse range of modern and classic cinema to Warrington.

The pair want to focus on entertaining, high-quality and under-seen movies from around the world.

Having seen community cinemas in Manchester and Liverpool, Isobel, a former Penketh High School student, wanted to bring a similar set-up to Warrington.

The first screening will be Roman Holiday and takes place at Penketh High School on Friday at 7pm.

The film showcases the breakthrough role of Audrey Hepburn as a runaway princess, in the charming 1953 rom-com that inspired the modern classic Notting Hill.

A second screening will take place on Sunday at 1pm of the 2016 animated film My Life as a Courgette.

Nominated for best animated picture at both the Oscars and the Baftas, this short and sweet film tells the story of a boy with a troubled home life who finds out the meaning of love and family when he is moved to a children's home.

The community cinema is a non-profit club and all ticket sales will go back into funding for future films.

With the first screenings set for Penketh High, Isobel is planning on other venues across Warrington for the year and wants the showings to be a monthly event.

Audience members are allowed to bring their own snacks into the screenings and refreshments will also be on sale.

Tickets are £5 on the door or online and can be bought via cinewire.bigcartel.com/product/roman-holiday-e-ticket
