A NEW gym which offers children’s classes and memberships has opened in Warrington.

In a bid to encourage more children and young people to exercise, Pride Performance has created fitness classes for children aged six and over and memberships for those aged 11.

Children aged between 11 and 13 are required to attend with a parent but lone memberships are available to those aged 14 and over.

The Slutchers Lane gym offers coaching and online programming in strength and conditioning and weightlifting.

Opened by Heather Flannery and her boyfriend Andy Griffiths, both British Weightlifting coaches, the gym offers equipment tailored to suit strength sports.

As parents themselves, the couple have tailored the gym to fit in with a busy family lifestyle.

They said: “We have always struggled with fitting childcare around training as well as our children wanting to train but not being allowed in some facilities.

“Because of this, we have created children’s classes from the ages of six as well as a small children’s area which includes a range of writing and drawing materials, toys and a large blackboard.

“We offer a range of classes to suit all needs, abilities and age groups as well as an open gym to come along and train.”

The gym also offers a 20-minute intensive lunchtime class for those busy at work.
