HUNDREDS of residents gathered in the town centre today to mark the 25th anniversary of the Warrington Bombing.

Warrington fell silent at 12.27pm this afternoon to remember Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry, who were killed in the blast on March 20 1993.

Princess Anne was present at the memorial service, which was led by freeman of the borough Rev Stephen Kingsnorth.

Cllr Mike Hannon, the deputy Mayor of Warrington Cllr Karen Mundry and Tim Parry's dad Colin all addressed the crowd.

Other speakers included Tim Parry's childhood friend Gareth Boldsworth and Ruth Picucci, whose handprint is moulded into the River of Life memorial fountain on Bridge Street.

Tim Parry's nieces and nephews also paid tribute to their late uncle.

Bronwen Vickers - who survived being injured in the bombing but died of cancer a year later - was remembered by her daughters Harriet Vickers and Hannah Evans.

Reflections were led by Rev Ian Elliott and Canon Christopher Cunningham, clergy in the town centre 25 years ago.

Blessings were also given by faith leaders including chair of the Warrington Council of Faiths Afthkar Quayyum, Rev David Easton, the Bishop of Liverpool Rt Rev Thomas Williams and the Bishop of Warrington Rt Rev Richard Blackburn.

The Warrington Male Voice Choir were joined by pupils from Great Sankey High School and Barrow Hall Primary School as they sang Something Inside So Strong to close the ceremony.
