WARRINGTON Borough Council has 'no plans' to increase security at a Risley site blighted by unlawful traveller encampments.

Silver Lane continues to be accessed by travellers – despite a £6,000 gate, which was installed in 2015, being in place.

The authority has incurred clean-up costs this year, with the latest coming last month when tyres, rubbish and a gas cylinder were dumped by a group before it vacated the land.

CCTV has been suggested but the council believes it could be too costly.

A spokesman said: "There are currently no further plans to increase security measures within this location, however, this will be kept under review."
