A CARE home previously ordered to improve by the healthcare watchdog has been praised following a reinspection.

Anderson Close Care Home in Longbarn was ordered to improve by the Care Quality Commission in 2016 after inspectors found four breaches of health and social care regulations.

But the home, which houses up to three young people with learning disabilities, has now been rated as good by the CQC following another inspection in December.

A report into the home by the CQC said: “The care service has been developed and designed in line with the values that underpin best practice guidance.

“These values include choice, promotion of independence and inclusion.

“People with learning disabilities and autism using the service can live as ordinary a life as any citizen.

“Staff had good understanding of the needs of people living at Anderson Close.

“Relatives were happy with the care their family members received.

“We saw that staff knew the needs, preferences, likes and dislikes of people living at Anderson Close well.

“Staff were observed to be friendly, caring and attentive at all times during the inspection and showed regard to dignity and respect.”

While the home was rated as good overall, the CQC ordered further improvements in the effectiveness of the service due to documentation relating to the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
