POLICE rushed to Golden Square Shopping centre this afternoon over fears for the safety of a woman on the roof of the building.
Officers were alerted to the incident at the town centre shopping destination at 12.10pm today, Monday.
A force spokesman said: "Police were called to Golden Square Shopping Centre town centre following reports of concern for the safety of a female on the roof.
"She came down from the roof three minutes later and was looked after by security.
"She then went to hospital to be assessed."
A spokesman for Golden Square confirmed that emergency services attended the centre following an incident.
He said: “Members of our security team and police assisted a woman who was in distress.
“Nobody was hurt and the woman has now left the premises.”
