IT was one of the best known sites in Warrington for more than 100 years.
And this week in Yester Years we take a look at the demolition of the famous old Victorian tower at Winwick Hospital.
The old hospital, much of which has now been turned into the Winwick Park housing development, was demolished in the late 1990s, more than 100 years after it was built.
Warrington Guardian photographer Mike Boden was on hand to capture the moment the tower was demolished.
In contrast to the brick by brick approach currently being taken to pull down the water tower at the cabinet works in the town centre, the hospital tower was demolished in one spectacular move.
The only hospital element on the site now is the North West Borough's headquarters
