POTHOLE repair work has taken place on a notorious stretch of road after the council revealed it is investing £40 million in resurfacing work.

Resident Lesley Hart told the Warrington Guardian improvements had been made to potholes off the roundabout, near junction eight at Westbrook Way, following a complaint she made online.

Lesley said she filed the complaint on approximately February 12, with repair work starting on February 26.

She said: "I emailed the council through its website reporting pot holes.

"I work nights and was sick of dodging the potholes in the dark – there is still a couple they have missed."

As reported by the Warrington Guardian last week, a spokesman from the council said: "The council recognises the importance of its highway network and is currently investing £40 million in resurfacing work across the borough."

It comes after Department for Transport figures revealed that one in five of the borough’s minor roads are in need of repairs, with 21 per cent of them needing work from 2016-17 – the sixth highest figure in the north west.
