NETWORK Warrington is making some major changes to its bus network this spring – including a new Warrington Bank Quay service and the introduction of the Cheshire Cat.

Taking on board the views of passengers at a special roadshow in Stockton Heath on Wednesday night, the bus operator will introduce a number of improvements from Sunday, April 8.

This will include high frequency services, up to every 10 minutes, in Stockton Heath via Priestley College, a new link to Warrington Bank Quay and connections as far as Wigan.

Ben Wakerley, managing director said: "We’re delighted to introduce these latest service improvements.

"We are grateful to all the residents who braved the elements to come along to the Cheshire Cat roadshow at Stockton Heath and we were pleased to hear some really positive feedback about the proposed changes."

The new Cheshire Cat-branded bus fleet – which includes improved seating, Wi-Fi and USB charging - will provide a 10-minute frequency service between Warrington Interchange and Stockton Heath, combine two buses an hour to Lymm and Thelwall and operate a number of new services to areas such as Appleton Thorn and Northwich.

From 8 April, all Cheshire Cat services will serve Bank Quay Station every 10 minutes for journeys to and from the town centre.

A number of existing routes have also been revised, with changes to services 23, 25, 11 and 12 coming into effect.

Ben added: "The Cheshire Cat launch follows improvements we have started to make, including the Pops and high frequency hospital services, and we plan to continue to improve bus travel across the town. We’d love for people to leave their cars in the garage and try out our improving bus network.

"We are determined to improve your bus service in all its aspects and we will have more news to come."
