A MAN accused of spitting at and kicking two police officers and biting and attacking two hospital security guards has been charged.

Police were called to Warrington Hospital on Wednesday at 11pm following reports of a 'violent man under the influence of drink and drugs'. 

When officers arrived at the hospital, the security staff had detained a man on the floor after an alleged assault where one of the guards had been bitten while the other was kicked several times. 

It also alleged that while the man was receiving treatment he became violent towards the officers, kicking one in the head and spitting on them both.

He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault and two counts of police assault.

The suspect was later arrested on a fifth charge after damage was caused to the police vehicle. 

Christopher Harper, of Leicester Street, has since been charged with three counts of assault by beating and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm

The 37-year-old will appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court on March 13.
