ONE person was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation last night, Wednesday, as firefighters tackled a flat fire on Bewsey Road.

Two fire engines attended from Penketh and one from Warrington were called at 11.15pm

The fire was in a business on the ground floor of the building and crews, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.

Crews then cleared smoke from the property using a large fan.

Police were also called.

Firefighters were at the scene for four hours and 15 minutes.
