A HAIRDRESSER from Westbrook is a cut above the rest as she prepares for the next chapter in her career.

Kathryn Carney will host an open evening to celebrate the success of her business which she originally set up in Warrington.

After relocating to Widnes, her hairdressing business has outgrown its home on the market and now Creme de la Creme is expanding and opening a second salon on Albert Road next month.

The 35-year-old said: “We have taken on so many employees, our market space is too small for us.

“I work closely with Riverside College and provide placements, work experience and apprenticeships.”

The mum-of-three moved into the market hall three years ago and says it is a brilliant location for a business.

“We are very lucky where we are, we have a lot of passing trade,” said hairdresser Kathryn.

“There is huge competition among hairdressers in Widnes. We are looking to be that little bit different.”

Kathryn’s work has also been recognised by industry experts after she won awards at the British Hair and Beauty Awards last year.

The hairdressers was also named salon of the year for the north west and Kathryn was crowned hair stylist of the year.

Students who work at the popular salon also achieved success on the evening.

Jack Steele, 18, was named junior stylist of the year and Leah Buckley, 19, won apprentice of the year.

Senior stylist Karen Carberry, 33, is off to Italy shortly to take part in Milan Fashion Week.

Seven new jobs have been created as the salon prepares to host an open evening next Thursday, March 1 from 7pm.

“We’re going to offer master classes, pamper parties and one-stop clinics,” added Kathryn.

“A qualified nurse will be offering microblading, botox, lip fillers and much more.”

Vouchers and giveaways will be handed out during the open evening to guests.
