A DALLAM man has been charged with a string of offences following a hammer attack in a pub in Fearnhead.

James Edward Geaney, of Marshall Avenue, has been charged with wounding, actual bodily harm, four counts of criminal damage and driving while disqualified.

The 30-year-old also faces charges of resisting arrest, possession of cannabis, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without insurance.

He is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, having been remanded in police custody.

It follows an attack on the car park of the Farmers Arms on Fearnhead Lane, in which a hammer is believed to have been used.

Cheshire Police were called to the scene shortly before 9pm on Saturday, February 17, in which a man and a woman were assaulted.

The suspect is alleged to have collided with two people outside the pub – which was hosting a charity night in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society at the time of the incident – and damaged a number of vehicles when driving away from the scene.

Police patrols later stopped a suspicious vehicle on the M56 westbound, near to junction 10 at Stretton, in the early hours of Monday morning – with the driver arrested in connection with the attack at the Farmers Arms.
