PLANS to demolish a construction company’s offices in order to build housing have been withdrawn by the developer.
Cruden Construction had applied for planning permission to bulldoze its own offices in Grappenhall in order to build 14 homes.
The company had described its Knutsford Road offices – a former petrol station dating back to the 1950s – as ‘dated, constrained and no longer meeting its requirements or future growth plans’ in its application.
It is currently in the process of ‘securing modern premises in the area’ to move its 75 staff members to.
Cruden had proposed the demolition of the building and creation of eight three-bedroom and six four-bedroom houses, plus 47 car parking spaces.
But the company withdrew its application to Warrington Borough Council on Monday, February 19.
It will now ‘consider issues raised in order to deliver a viable redevelopment’, with concerns having been raised by the council’s highways department and due to the scheme being sited in the green belt.
Due to these issues, the application will require ‘significant amendments’.
