KNUTSFORD Police Sergeant Andy Baker has been praised for the impact he has had on policing in the town.

The praise comes from Chief Inspector Laura Marler as Sgt Baker said farewell to Knutsford to take up a new role as Beat Sergeant for Crewe town centre.

Sgt Baker served as Knutsford Beat Sergeant for about three years.

“Sgt Baker has been superb in his role at Knutsford, and has clearly made an impact on policing and rural crime work in the Knutsford areas,” said Chf Insp Marler.

“He has built up strong relationships with partners and directed his team well, to ensure they meet local demand and concerns.

“I wish him every success for the future, and he will be missed by his colleagues.”

Sgt Baker praised the work of the PCs and PCSOs at Knutsford, and said: It’s been a pleasure to work in Knutsford as a PC and Sergeant and meet so many great people in the community."

Notable achievements by Sgt Baker’s team during the past six months include a man being convicted of multiple counts of racially- aggravated public disorder, working with response officers to arrest a serial town centre burglar, arresting a prolific offender who had targeted the elderly, arresting two men for robbery in Knutsford town centre and helping in the eviction of a tenant who had caused anti-social behaviour.
