POLICE are cracking down on anti-social behaviour and crime in Knutsford town centre this month.

The issues are among those being given priority by officers during February.

“Anti-social behaviour and crime in the town centre continues to cause concern for residents of Knutsford,” said a police spokesman.

“As a result Knutsford Beat Team will focus much of their time on the town centre, particularly for events and in the evening.

“We will continue to work with partner agencies to tackle issues before they become a problem.

“We have recently arrested a male in connection with for town centre burglaries, and continue to do what we can to bring justice to victims and make the town as safe as possible.”

Officers have and continue to make use of dispersal orders to disrupt issues as they occur.

A yellow card scheme is in operation - this means that details of any young person found to be acting in an anti-social manner or reported as being linked to an incident of anti-social behaviour are taken and recorded.

Letters are issued to parents or guardians advising them of the young person’s behaviour and enforcement action is taken against repeat offenders.

If you are suffering from anti-social behaviour or have been the victim of a crime residents are urged to report the matter to police by calling 101.

Another issue on the priority list this month is speeding drivers and motoring offences.

“Knutsford is the home of a large road and motorway network,” added the officer.

“Cheshire Police is dedicated to ensuring the safety of the roads of Cheshire through proactive enforcement and education.

“The Beat Team at Knutsford will conduct activities in support of Operation Fatal Four.

“During February officers at Knutsford will be proactively targeting those committing offences on the roads.”
